ISLAMABAD: Having reached Washington amid rising tensions between the Pakistani and the American military leadership, Director General of the Inter-Services Intelligence Lt-Gen Ahmed Shuja Pasha has sought actionable intelligence about al Qaeda Chief Al-Zawahiri and other high-value targets from his CIA counterpart, David Petraeus, as had recently been alleged by the former CIA chief and incumbent US Secretary of Defence Leon Panetta last week.
Sources said that the CIA director might also pay a visit to Pakistan shortly. The State Department on Wednesday said the US remains committed to its vital partnership with Pakistan as senior officials of the two countries hold high level meetings.
“It’s not always easy but it’s certainly vital and it’s in both countries interests. We are strongly committed to it,†State Department’s Deputy Spokesman Mark Toner said. Toner had nothing specific to say about the ISI chief meeting the state department’s officials.( Agency)
