Release ‘Islamic rage boy’ : Family

Srinagar, Jun 14: Kashmiri youth who is popularly known as ‘Islamic Rage Boy’ has not been released by police despite assurance by the chief minister to release political prisoners on eve of eid. .

Shakeel Ahmed Bhat resident of Malik Angan Fathe Kadal Srinagar has been languishing in jail from several years. He was arrested in 2008 on the charges of organizing protests against police while authorities had slapped 17 PSA’s on him.

Soon after his release, Shakeel Ahmed Bhat told KMW that he is happy to see his family members and friends in free environment.

Family members of Shakeel Ahmed told KMW that since more than one year we are eagerly awaiting his release as Jail has been made him home.

They said that right from 1994, Shakeel remained most of the time under custody. “An injury to his right arm as a result of the torture had left him unable to lift anything and authorities take him as a threat,” they said and appealed the authorities to release Shakeel Ahmed without any delay especially on the eve of eid .
