Srinagar, Jan 27(KMW): Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) has called for a complete shutdown tomorrow against the civilian deaths in Shopian at the hands of army. JRL led by Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik appealed people to observe a complete shutdown.
Two youth were killed and a dozen another were injured when army opened fire into a bunch of protesting youths who were raising pro-freedom slogans and pelting stones. The incident took place today at Ganowpora village of district Shopian.
Many other resistance leaders also strongly condemned the killings and endorsed the JRL call for shutdown tomorrow.
People’s Political Party (PPP) Chairman Hilal War strongly condemned the killings and supported JRL call for tomorrow’s shutdown. “This is a heinous crime and the sense of impunity that the Indian forces enjoy emboldens them to commit more and more human rights violations,” said War.
Senior pro-freedom leader and JKLF Chairman Javaid Ahmed Mir said India should stop human rights violations in Kashmir and appealed the international fraternity to impress upon India to come to the table instead of using force.
