Peace, Diplomacy needed

Peace, Diplomacy needed

Tensions between India and Pakistan are at all time high and have been rising since last month, when 19 Indian soldiers were killed by a militant strike on an army base in Uri Kashmir. India blamed the attack on Pakistan-based militants and within days launched a retaliatory “surgical strike” on alleged militant bases on the Pakistani side of the Line of Control, the de facto border between the two countries.
But reading the overall context of situation , from Kashmir agitation to war only diplomacy and peaceful mechanism looks to be a feasible option. As wise voices state that If we were to search for a word to explain why war will never win out against peace, I would say that war is “artificial” while peace is “natural.”
On the otherhand, Diplomacy (from the Greek δίπλωμα, “official document conferring a privilege”) is the art and practice of conducting negotiations between representatives of states. It usually refers to international diplomacy, the conduct of international relations through the intercession of professional diplomats with regard to issues of peace-making, trade, war, economics, culture, environment, and human rights. India and Pakistan need to revive this crafty art of diplomacy to stop war in the region and end bloodshed in Kashmir.
Even Pakistan’s High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit has made it clear that only diplomacy is means to settle tensions.
It looks all the more clear that killings, counter killings, allegations, ban of artists, terror, human rights violations in the region of South Asia especially in Kashmir cannot be in anyone’s interest and will further escalate the tensions in the region.
Peace, Diplomacy look only viable options.
